You are invited to attend the presentation of Dr. Mirjam Milharčič Hladnik who has coauthored a new book on Slovenian communities around the world that has just been published in English: Daring Dreams of the Future: Slovenian Mass Migrations 1870–1945, tells how nearly a half million Slovenians left their homeland to build new lives for themselves and their families and create Slovenian cultural scenes wherever they settled.
She is one of Slovenia’s leading researchers about Slovenian-Americans and their achievements. The stories she shares are of interest to anyone who wants to learn more about why so many European emigrants chose to leave their homeland and establish themselves in this country. She produced the documentary,100% Slovenian: The Stories of Slovenian Women in America.
The event is free, sponsored by the Slovenian Union of America, Branch 111, and SUA has invited SGSI members to attend. However, SGSI members need to register since SUA would like a head count. You can register using the link below or going to the SGSI Events webpage.
